The Association of Attorney-Mediators offers advanced mediation trainings twice per year. The spring advanced training is held in conjunction with the Annual Meeting. The fall advanced training is a one-day, full day advanced mediation training.  AAM does not offer basic mediation training, but please look over our list of those offering basic training.  These have been reviewed, at member request over the years, for compliance with AAM's membership requirements.

    Advanced Attorney-Mediator Training, CLE Seminar and Annual Meeting

    Advancing the Art of Mediation

    Join us on April 7 and April 8, 2017 in Santa Fe, New Mexico!  Join us for fun in this beautiful, enchanting town with its own unique setting.  We will learn new mediator skills in our two partial day Advanced Attorney-Mediator Training and CLE Seminar.    

    Please note that $125.00 of the non-member registration fee (the difference between member and non-member registration fees) can be applied to AAM’s $250.00 annual membership dues if you decide to join within one year of the training.  Membership includes a group mediator/arbitrator professional liability insurance policy.

    The training begins on Friday, April 7, 2017 at 11:45 am and ends on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 12:15 pm.  We will complete the seminar with the highly requested marketing segment from 12:15-1:15 pm, following adjournment of the AAM training. 

    The La Fonda Hotel has had a face lift since our visit ten years ago  - with plenty of space for fun and learning.  Our hotel reservations have been put into place to begin 3 days before and extend 3 days after the event for everyone to enjoy all that Santa Fe has to offer!

    Friday evening we will enjoy cocktails and dinner together in the beautiful La Terraza Room, featuring glass all around to enjoy the lovely sunset over Santa Fe.  Spouses/companions may pay to attend the cocktail reception and the dinner - see the information on the registration form.


    After dinner, Friday evening, there are many options for time with friends.  

    Long time AAM Member, Stefanie Beninato, PhD, will host a walking tour at 8:00 pm,

    The Dark Side of Santa Fe: Ghosts and Mysteries -

    Come with the ghost tour guide for Travel Channel who has lived in two haunted houses in Santa Fe. Even if you are a non-believer, you will have fun learning about the unseen inhabitants in the oldest capital city in the U.S. This 105 minute walking tour includes stories about the ever-present personalities behind the walls of both public and private buildings in Santa Fe.     The La Fonda La Fiesta Lounge offers music and dancing for those that want to stay in for the evening.  

    A nice stroll around the Plaza before retiring for the night is another great idea. Dress warmly for the weather in early April!
     


    Saturday afternoon, we will again have a marketing segment just after the training conference ends - from 12:15 to 1:15.  This session is optional and no CLE credit will be offered.  Presenter for the marketing segment to be announced.  A light snack will be served to attendees.  

    Following our Saturday of learning, AAM member tour expert, Stefanie Beninato, PhD, has created a special tour "just for us" and a very reasonable member price, available on the registration form, The City Different: A Walking Tour of Santa Fe - Try this fun and informative walk with a local professional historian, who has given tours to all kinds of groups ranging from school children to lawyers, and visitors from the Smithsonian. Learn about the fascinating history, art and architecture of the downtown.     We hope you will join us!  As others have reported after their first AAM seminar, these AAM conferences are not to be missed!   You will take away new tips and information, and many new mediator colleagues!  And they are so much fun!We will apply for MCLE credit in Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, 
    Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Texas.  CME credits will be applied for in many states as well.  MCLE approvals will be published as they are received.

    Early Registration ends on March 28, 2017.  Each registration type will increase $50 at that time.

    Chicago in May is a wonder weather-wise and, as always, offers  spectacular architectural features; the beautiful lake front, lake-front trail and Grant Park; world class-restaurants; Michigan Avenue shopping; world-renowned museums; and  more.

    The two-day, 15 hour-CLE elder advanced mediation training, presented by Robert J. Rhudy of Senior Mediation and Decision-Making, Inc., will cover

    • What's unique about elder mediation

    • Common issues

    • Participants & roles

    • Ethics issues

    • Management & marketing of elder mediation practice

    • Resources for the elder mediator.

    The Elder Advanced Training is limited to 30 participants.  For this advanced training, each participant must have completed the basic mediation training required in their state.

    The training includes two hours of professional responsibility credits, presentations by experts in elder care and elder law, and facilitated role plays.  AAM Illinois Chapter members will be facilitators and participants in the training, including former AAM President, Michael Leech, on ethics with Mr. Rhudy.

    All participants will receive a copy of Mr. Rhudy’s Elder Mediation Today Manual and Resource Guide in addition to other materials used in the training.

    We will apply for MCLE credit in all states in which MCLE credits are requested.  CME credits will be applied for in states as requested as well.  MCLE approvals will be published as they are received. 

    Non-AAM Members may apply $195 (USD) of their registration fee for the training as a credit toward their AAM membership dues, provided the application for membership is received and activated on or before June 30, 2017.  AAM Membership dues include a group liability insurance policy which covers mediation and arbitration.
